Typical range: 10-25 mm
Common values: 4x, 10x, 20x, 40x, 100x

Mitotic Activity Counting

Enter mitotic count for Field 1 of 10:

Number of mitoses in current field

How to Use - Field Measurements

  1. Enter the eyepiece field size in millimeters (usually marked on the eyepiece)
  2. Enter the objective magnification (4x, 10x, 20x, 40x, etc.)
  3. Click "Calculate Field Measurements" to get all measurements

How to Use - Mitotic Counting

  1. Select number of HPFs to count (10 or 50)
  2. Enter mitotic count for each field sequentially
  3. Click "Add Count" after each field
  4. Click "Calculate Mitotic Activity" when all fields are completed
  5. View average and cumulative mitotic counts

Common Eyepiece Sizes

  • 10x eyepiece: Typically 18-20 mm field
  • 12.5x eyepiece: Typically 16-18 mm field
  • 15x eyepiece: Typically 14-16 mm field

Mitotic Counting Guidelines

  • High Power Field: Typically 40x objective magnification
  • Count all mitoses: Including prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase
  • Systematic counting: Move systematically across the tissue
  • Standard practice: Count 10 HPFs for most tumors, 50 HPFs for research
